FAQs
Q) Why are checkups recommended every six months, even for people with great oral health?
Early detection of dental problems allows us to provide the most conservative treatment, which saves you time, expense, and possible discomfort. While our office performs comprehensive restorative dentistry, we would always prefer to help you avoid complex problems in the first place. We accomplish this goal through biannual dental cleanings and exams, giving us the opportunity to prevent and detect the early stages of decay and gum disease for better long-term results.
Q) What happens if a missing tooth is not replaced?
Missing teeth can lead to a number of other problems, including additional tooth loss. Research shows that if a missing tooth is not replaced, up to 20% of adjacent teeth will fall out in the next 4 to 8 years. Missing teeth also cause remaining teeth to shift, causing unsightly spaces, food impaction, bite collapse, chewing alteration, and TMJ pain. You’re also more susceptible to gum disease, a serious health condition that can significantly shorten your life span.
Q) I avoid dental visits because of anxiety. Can you help?
Many people experience dental anxiety, and this problem can contribute to serious oral health issues because it leads many to avoid the dentist altogether. If this describes you, we offer a solution: sedation dentistry. With oral conscious sedation, we can eliminate your dental anxiety and make it possible for you to finally receive the dental healthcare you’ve been putting off.
Q) I have not been to the dentist in years, and I’m ashamed to let a professional see the condition of my mouth. Is your staff judgmental?
At the office of Robert Taylor, DDS, we perform a good number of full-mouth reconstructions – in fact, we focus a lot of energy on restorative dentistry for damaged smiles. We want only to congratulate you on making positive choices for your smile by coming to see us! We will help you by addressing your oral health problems, explaining treatment options, and scheduling a plan of action that suits both your schedule and your budget.
Q) Do you refer patients to specialists?
One of the benefits of receiving your dental care from Dr. Robert Taylor is the fact that we do so much in house. We can perform complex oral surgery, dental implants placement, and various advanced restorative dental treatments at our Seattle dental office. When we do refer patients to specialists, we want you to know that we’ve built and maintained close working relationships with some of the most trusted names in our area.
Q) What is the International Congress of Oral Implantologists?
Founded in 1972, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists is the largest dental implant organization in the world. As a fellow of the ICOI, Dr. Taylor shows his level of commitment to excellence in implant dentistry.
